Is Jon Stewart the Most Trusted Man in America?

Posted by EJP in ,

Good profile in the NYT.

The answer, of course, is yes

Seriously, The Daily Show consistently packs more substantive news and information into a 22 minute broadcast than CNN manages to fit into 24 hours, and there's simply no comparison to the waste of space that is the 6:30 evening news. Jon Stewart routinely schools professional "journalists" in how to conduct an interview, break down complex issues, and generally report the news. Plus, he does it with jokes.

It's the only television news outlet that I can actually reccomend anyone watch, or that I myself can stomach routinely watching.

My problem with The Onion is that there’s a thin line between satire and reality; and for years now, they’ve strayed entirely too far on the latter side of it. I miss when it was funny rather than the depressing and entirely too accurate thing that it’s become.

From the less poetic, often forgotten about, but just as important section of the Declaration of Independence:

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
